Street Fighter IV, Resident Evil 5 and Bionic Commando are taking care of the awkward stepchild.

Microsoft’s Games for Windows service got a shot in the arm today with the announcement of major support from Capcom. In North America, the publisher will release Street Fighter IV, Resident Evil 5 and Bionic Commando for Microsoft’s PC gaming service.

A brief press release confirmed that all games will feature customised control schemes and all the trappings of a GFW release (including achivements). Presumably Street Fighter IV will come bundled with a MadCatz pad – I don’t fancy throwing fireballs with arrow keys.

Capcom's Street Fighter IV, coming to Games for Windows.

Most notably, Capcom’s confirmed that Resident Evil 5 will include support for of NVIDIA’s GeForce 3D Vision technology (silly glasses sold separately). Are zombies jumping out of your laptop enough to coax you into a second purchase?

It’s interesting to see significant support for the awkwardly-named Games for Windows service from Capcom – there’s obviously a huge install base if a publisher can find the right price point and approach. That said, any platform without strong parent support will continue to struggle, and Microsoft hasn’t paid much attention lately.
